1. Library Walkers Wanted

Join library staff on Tuesday's from 9:00-9:45.
(Weather Permitting)

We are putting on pedometers, kicking up our heels and walking Norry.
People are encouraged to walk at their own pace. We will see how many steps
we can walk together, and while we walk, we can enjoy each others company,
and maybe learn a little bit of history.

2. Secret Word of the Day Contest:  Come in and try to guess our secret
word of the day.  Win prizes!  Begins Sept. 1

book clubs and reader's advisories:

Join our Dear Reader Book Clubs. Each day we'll email you a 5-minute portion of a book. During the week you can read 2-3 chapters and decide if you want to check the book out of the library. Every Monday we start new books. Sign up and start reading.  Clubs include:  Fiction, Business, Science Fiction, Audio, Nonfiction, Romance, Mystery, Pre-Publication, Teen and Good News.

Try our NEXT Reads, a new service provided by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Libraries.  These are monthly newsletters suggesting books you might like to read in the following categories:  Arm Chair Travel, Biographies and Memoirs, Do-It-Yourself, Fiction A - Z, History and Current Events, Inspirational Fiction, Mystery, Popular Culture, Science Fiction, Teen Scene, Audiobooks, Business and Marketing, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Horror, Mind and Body Fitness, Nature and Science, Romance, Spirituality and Religion, and Thrillers and Suspense.

 

Did you know:


  • You can pick up a free copy of the monthly newspaper, BookPage: America's Book Review, at the library.
     
  • That the library subscribes to the Daily Item, the Harrisburg Patriot and USA Today and various magazines.  They are located on the second floor.
     
  • There are  literature and book related databases available through PowerLibrary.  To see the whole list, go to the PowerLibrary and Links page.
     
  • We have an ever-expanding collection of books on tape and CD.  They are located in the computer room and kitchen (at the back of the first floor.)
