Story Bags...

Story bags are themed collections designed for group use by elementary teachers, reading teachers, special needs teachers, daycare and preschool groups, home schoolers and parenting groups.  They may be reserved up to six months in advance, and are loaned for three weeks.

Each story bag has a theme and contains a variety of materials based on that theme.  Materials may include fiction books, nonfiction books, big books, books with audio cassettes, videos, puppets and stuffed animals, and other hands-on items where appropriate.  We have tried to include a range of reading levels in each box.  Also included are "masters" and instruction sheets for various crafts and activities relating to the theme.  Feel free to make copies of the ones you wish to use; "masters" should be returned with the story bags.  Craft supplies are not included.  A tabletop puppet stage is also available to borrow; contact the library for details.

With the help of the Anselmo Foundation, our story bag collection continues to grow.  Topic suggestions and comments are always welcome.  For more information or to schedule a story bag, please contact the library.
